Every website (domain) has a name. It may be a series of numbers like http://192.168.0.1/ or it may be written out in words like http://www.FogCityWebsites.com/.

The process of assigning a word based name to your site is called domain registration.  Since many name combinations are already in use, it can be somewhat a challenge to find an available one that you would like to use.  Although a truly unique domain name may not be possible – for instance JoesDiner.com, it might make sense for your website to be JoesDinerSanFrancisco.com which describes not only your service but your location as well.
